article: Miniature Mysteries: Lichen Moths (Rachel Sargent Mirus/The Outside Story/Northern Woodlands) so pretty! and so little known about them.
tool: Color Counter (github) I will be using this often to get the hex numbers for the colours I’m thinking of, and just to look at colours 🎨
house for sale: A Rare Gem In The Lofoten Islands, Ramberg, Nordland, Norway (JamesEdition) I’m here for the photos — landscape (landscape with dog, landscape with northern lights, landscape with seaview, etc) and interior both
short essay: Another Morning in Paradise: 13 September 2026: Hurricane Hill (1,100 feet), White River Junction, Vermont (Ted Levin) journal writing that’s “part natural history, part memoir, and part commentary” — a fair amount of bird reporting on this day. I love this bit (my own dad would have been 92 yesterday): “Today’s my father’s 111th birthday. In less than a hundred years, no one will be alive who remembers him. Not even the chickadees, with their astonishing little maps of seed and season, have room for the boy who grew up a Yankee fan in Far Rockaway, went to college in New Jersey, worked in Manhattan, married a girl from Ohio, moved to the South Shore of Long Island, played a lot of golf, and raised a single son, who wanted nothing to do with men’s formal wear or golf.”
