essay/recommendations: Peaceful films & books about finding beauty in everyday moments: Oh, the magic of quiet routines and small blessings (Lucy Fuggle/Life with Books) I’ll be referring to this list of recs again and again. If you want more like them, scroll to the bottom for similar themes.

artwork for sale: Abigail Bell Vintage Prints. I like the curated collection in particular, the landscapes, and the animals. The Nursery & Kids section may appeal to parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, among others.

photo essay: Photos of the Week – July 9, 2026 (Chris Helzer/The Prairie Ecologist) Amazing pics of a variety of insects on prairie plants, shot at the Niobrara Valley Preserve in Nebraska, each with identification and some with additional info.

list/interview: garden reference resources we rely on, with rebecca mcmackin (Margaret Roach/A Way To Garden) Text or 27-min audio. McMackin is one of my favourite public gardening people. They don’t just name sources but explain how to do a reliable, targeted search for the information you need, such as preference for .edu sites, making sure research is very up-to-date (Margaret mentions that research on beech leaf disease is changing minute to minute so a source that’s a year or two old is too old), keeping a bookmarked list of the best sources for each topic, and understanding that AI is more than likely to steer you wrong. There’s a list of their sources at the bottom, including the Xerces Society channel on YouTube, Grow Native Mass, Missouri Botanical Garden’s plant encyclopedia, specific plant or flower societies (depending on your interests), Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Go Botany, North American Native Plant Society, Biota of North America Project: BONAP for mapping of native ranges, et al.
