A Moveable Garden

Part of my Feb 2024 Dream Poems project.

Roaming

Always wandering, looking for, 
trying to find, not finding, 
not finding yet. 
Buildings, apartments, stores, 
hotels, places I don't live. 
People I don't know and 
I don't need to know them. 
We're in it together anyway. 

My aunt is dead and a part of me, 
the dreamer, knows she's not, 
but facts must be faced. We're in Annapolis 
and she's both here and not here. 
She's easier to visit in this dream. 

These places, so familiar and so expansive, 
just when I think I'm at the end, I'm looking ahead, 
same as daytime, looking, 
trying to find, hoping for something 
on the wind, feathers, a flash of colour, 
so much I haven’t seen, 
or have seen, up ahead, in the dark.
