Le Hammeau
You can search forever for that feeling.
They call it heady though it’s anywhere but the head, it’s felt
perhaps just outside the head, cushioning the head,
pillowed with bliss and sleep, the sleep
of dreams that awaken the body, the body’s primacy
that relocates and lulls as sloshed senses flow with
everything, coloured water flowers washing
over them the way this blend, mingled lavender and
lemongrass tea, washes over your tongue, rose petals,
aromatic herbs suffusing the grassy air with moments
past, moments yet to come as you breathe in, wander
and gaze, eyes soft, green brushing, coloured water
flowers, a watercolour wash bathes your glad skin
this sunlit afternoon, alive and French in a wild
meadow, alive in a New Hampshire room listening
to the dripping snow melt, slowly sipping, bathing,
washed in retrospective summer bloom.
