interactive video: Kick the Ball Back (vole.wtf). Kick the ball, miss, and listen to kids insult you in British. I hit one on the head and they still weren’t happy.
essays: Don’t Stop, But Don’t Finish (Sophie Lucido Johnson). I love this woman’s writing and her visual art. “A person who really needs to meet with you right now, because they say that they do in an email, probably does not. The edgier their tone, the less they probably need to meet with you right now. What they really need to do is look at a pond.” I also love the male bowerbird, who collects things he feels are beautiful to woo his mate. (I guess the female bowerbird who also finds them beautiful — or who finds him beautiful for finding them beautiful, collecting them, hauling them home, and assembling them for her pleasure — is the one for him.) But the main point is: “…often, urgency is a useless invention, and it shows up in full bloom to deplete you and sap the meaning from projects you would have otherwise found enjoyable.”
art: California based artist Adele Gilani (Adele Gilani Art Gallery). I’m partial to her “gorgeous, lush, tangly botanicals,” particularly her works from 2023, 2019, and 2018.
